Brendan Hughes is a Baltimore-based artist. He is interested in exploring the labors present in the development of an artwork. Through the manipulation of material and the restructuring of form he investigates structure and the properties of sculpture. Hughes earned his BFA in Sculpture and BFA in Art Education from East Carolina University and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He has been awarded several public art commissions in the Baltimore region. Along with 3 other Baltimore artists and School 33 Art Center, Brendan recently received a Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Artistic Innovation and Collaboration grant.
